Personal Data Log Analysis Date: February 13, 2034
Data Subject: Phillips, Alex B.
Rank: White Guardsman, Specialist

Data Analyst: Thompson, Roger G. Black Overseer, Codename: Avalon Affiliation: Global Defense Corps. (G.D.C.)
This log is an analysis for applicant 360-4317: Phillips, Alex B. for his request to join the G.D.C. For the past three months, Phillips and other possible candidates have been rigorously tested and trained within our compounds. As dictated by our standards, only the most talented, strongest, and intelligent candidates will be recruited for our ranks. We have had many promising applicants this training season, but Phillips has been the most controversial applicant. There have been many opinions within the tactical officer unit that he should be declined recruitment, including request he be removed from the training. It is because of these complaints that the applicant be placed under my scrutiny and to review his files. It will be my judgment that will either accept or deny his candidacy into the G.D.C.
Within the first month of the training exercises, Phillips showed under adequate skills than his resume had portrayed. He seemed to have difficulty with the some of the more simple task we requested. Also, he seemed to have some conflict with other applicants and team efforts were stressed as problematic at best. When reprimanded for his poor performance, he would give no excuses and simply nod, though it has been noted that he would often seemed bothered. There was never a request from him or his instructors for a psychological evaluation but many verbal request of his expunged from the G.D.C. recruitment testing. Red Overseer Victus was overlooking the procedures and declined all request of his removal. With further research, it was discovered that Victus had recommended Phillips to join the ranks. Though, no other investigation has started this, there is no evidence that suggest Victus had personal reasons or ulterior motives to the declined request.
During the second month of the training exercises, Phillips had appeared to have changed both in personality and performance. It was observed that he greatly excelled beyond prior expectations, even more so than the top candidates within his crew. Also, he made effort to amend the stressed relationship between the other applicants and himself. This should have resulted in higher marks for his candidacy into our ranks, but he still lacked in teamwork. He was often reckless and would split off from his group even against the squad leaders orders. This would often result in his team failing their goal even if the objective was completed otherwise. The reason I note this is because Phillips would complete the mission without the assistance of his team within the allotted time. But the test is not based on personal capabilities, but rather the ability to work as a team. He was reprimanded once again many times within this month. His response was always to nod and answer respectfully and apologetically. Again, he was requested to be removed from the testing and were declined. As a result of this, Victus requested that I review these files. Along with this request was also that I move him into my training regiment for the remainder of his testing. I will state that I had agreed to this request as I personally respect Red Overseer Victus, even if I was skeptical of a new recruit being placed within the elite training field.
During the third month, I chose four of the G.D.C. guardsmen under my command and Red Vanguard leader Excalibur to train and access Phillips performance. The regiment for training the Elite within our group is much more intense and relies on both teamwork and the ability to assess on personal logic. From the prior month's review of his performance working alone, this would force cooperation within his team as they are improbable to complete otherwise. I would also like to note that for reasons based on the request of Victus, I personally oversaw the training of Phillips. To be fair without personal feelings, it was a bit astonishing to see Phillips working with my elite. He showed composure, logic, and capability that is not common within new recruits. I will also mention that his teamwork had improved significantly within the month working along my men. I do note though, that he was still inferior to my men. He struggled against every test assigned and even failed the more simple training exercises within this regiment. That does not affect the fact that even with his failures, he improved drastically and performed with creative thinking that allowed him to push past points where others would have failed in the same category as him. These performances even gained praise from Excalibur and my four elite.
I decided that before I made my final decision on his fate within the G.D.C., I have requested he be put into a psychological evaluation. He spent one week within the medical ward with Dr. Edmond Arnold, our top psychologist. Here are the results:
Psychologist: Dr. Arnold, Edmond
Patient: Phillips, Alex B.
Assessment Date: January 28, 2034 – February 3, 2034
Assessment Log: Begin
At the request of Black Overseer Avalon, I have decided to do a psychological evaluation on applicant 360-4317: Phillips, Alex B. for his recruitment into the Global Defense Corps (G.D.C.). After overlooking the files presented by Avalon, I decided to start the interview regarding his performances within the first month of training. His response was timid and reserved as he attempted to not cooperate with my questioning. Finally, he revealed that a few days before attending the G.D.C. testing, he received news that his best friend, an army associate by the name of Jacob Anderson, had been hospitalized from a car wreck where he was stationed in Nevada. Phillips revealed that he usually keeps his private life separate from work. He had a regular psychiatrist where he was stationed that helped him cope with his problems along with the assistance of Anderson. This caused him to be disturbed his first month. Dealing with the other soldiers were stressful because of his inability to perform correctly. At the end of the month during the short leave granted to the soldiers to a nearby town, he received word that Anderson had survived and would be in recovery for only a few more short weeks. He also spoke to his Psychiatrist and was able to recover from his mental disturbance.
During the next interviews, we spoke about the second month of his training. Even with the recovery of his mental state, he was still being reprimanded for his inability to work as a team. In regards to this line of questioning, he answered truthfully and to the point. As quoted by Phillips: “During the training with my squad, I found their tactics questionable and the commands to be counter-productive. I realize that these tactics are used by our military in regular forces, but I thought we were supposed to be the best. During my time with the army, I was inducted into a higher regiment of training and tactics as I believed these men were also. When I opted to give my tactical advice, they were often ignored or rebuked by our squad leader. Also, during these training exercises, I felt no sense of challenge or realism as my service records showed that I was capable of higher risk missions. I realize that the point of these exercises had nothing to do with such things, I wanted to prove myself to the brass to make up for my poor abilities the prior month. Though, I had been in trouble, it worked out in the end as I got to spend a month with the best the G.D.C. had to offer and provided me with a stronger conviction to join their ranks.”
The next few interviews after I conducted with Phillips regarded his personal life, his goals, and the his last month of training. They may be reviewed by the audio I recorded during the sessions. I will point out that he did feel challenged and felt competent that he performed extremely well in these exercises. He looks forward to the results of these inquiries and has high hopes of joining the G.D.C.
As for my assessment of Phillips, I believe he is a worthy candidate for the G.D.C.. His mental health is mostly intact and his abilities are grades above the standard recruits. If he is accepted by the G.D.C., I will put in the request that he continues to see me monthly for assessments and to keep a video log every night to record his day, mental stability, and any other information he wishes to state. This is to ensure that Phillips does not repeat the process of the first month of testing.
Assessment Log: End
As stated by Dr. Edmond Arnold, I believe that Phillips, Alex B. is a worthy and top candidate for the G.D.C. After reviewing all records, military and personal, on Phillips, I accept his application into the G.D.C. His rank shall be White Guardsmen, placed in the Redmond Juggernaut unit, 3rd company, under my command. I have already informed Blue Vanguard Leader Shepard of his arrival for training.
